Understanding BPJS contributions

Employee deduction 4%

The total deduction from an employee's salary is generally 4%: JHT 2% + JP 1% + BPJS Health 1%. The rest is the employer's cost.

Employer cost

The employer bears JHT 3.7%, JP 2%, Health 4%, plus JKK (0.24%–1.74% by risk) and JKM 0.3%, which are fully employer-paid.

Wage caps

BPJS Health uses a Rp12M wage cap, and JP uses a cap that BPJS updates periodically. Above the cap, the contribution is based on the cap, not full salary.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How much is BPJS deducted from an employee's salary?

Generally 4% of wage: 2% JHT + 1% JP + 1% BPJS Health. The rest (JHT 3.7%, JP 2%, Health 4%, JKK, JKM) is the employer's cost.

How do I compute BPJS Employment contributions?

Multiply the wage (basic + fixed allowance) by each program's rate: JHT 5.7% (2% employee, 3.7% employer), JP 3% (1%/2%), JKK by risk, JKM 0.3%. The calculator separates them.

What is the BPJS wage cap?

BPJS Health caps the base at Rp12M. JP also has a cap that BPJS updates. If salary exceeds the cap, the contribution is based on the cap, not full salary.

What are the BPJS Employment programs?

JHT (Old-Age), JP (Pension), JKK (Work Accident), JKM (Death), and JKP (Job Loss). JKK & JKM are fully employer-paid; JKP doesn't burden employee/employer contributions.

What's the JKK rate?

JKK ranges from 0.24% to 1.74% of wage, depending on the company's work-accident risk level. It's fully employer-paid. Choose the risk level in the calculator per your business type.
