How to estimate renovation cost
Renovation is calculated per area
Unlike new builds, renovation cost is easiest to estimate per area (kitchen, bathroom, etc.), since each area has different damage and work scope. Total = sum of all area estimates.
Cost per m² varies widely
Light renovation (paint, repairs) is far cheaper per m² than a full gut (demolition, retiling, new plumbing). Enter each area's cost per m² to match your planned scope.
Set aside a contingency
Renovations often reveal hidden issues (leaks, old wiring/pipes) only visible once opened up. It's wise to keep a reserve beyond this estimate just in case.

How much does home renovation cost per meter?
It depends heavily on scope. Light renovation (paint, minor repairs) can be under Rp1M/m², while heavy renovation (full gut, retiling, new plumbing & electrical) can be Rp3-5M/m² or more. Enter per-area figures to match your plan.
How much to renovate a kitchen or bathroom?
Kitchens and bathrooms tend to be the most expensive per m² due to plumbing, tiling, and specialized fixtures. Enter the area and estimated cost per m² for each, and the calculator sums them with other areas.
What's the difference between renovation and new build?
A new build is calculated from a per-m² contract price for the whole building. Renovation is calculated per area because its scope is partial and varied. For a new build, use the house building cost calculator.
Does this estimate include materials and labor?
It depends on the per-m² figure you enter. If you use a contract price (material + labor), the total covers both. If labor-only, add material separately. Keep it consistent across areas.
How do I get a more accurate estimate?
