How to calculate tile needs
Area ÷ area per tile + waste
Tile count = surface area ÷ area of one tile, then add a waste factor (default 5%) for edge cuts, spares, and breakage risk during installation.
Convert to boxes
Tiles are sold per box, and box contents differ by size: 30x30 ≈ 11 pcs/box, 40x40 ≈ 6, 50x50 ≈ 4, 60x60 ≈ 3. This calculator converts pieces into boxes so your purchase fits.
Patterns add waste
Diagonal laying, patterns that must align, or rooms with many corners raise waste. Increase the waste factor if your layout is complex.

Frequently asked questions
How many tile boxes for a 24 m² floor?
For 40x40 tiles (~6 pcs/box) with 5% waste, a 24 m² floor needs about 158 pieces or 27 boxes. Other tile sizes give different box counts — the calculator works it out automatically once you pick a size.
How many tiles per box?
Box contents depend on size: 20x20 ≈ 25, 25x25 ≈ 20, 30x30 ≈ 11, 40x40 ≈ 6, 50x50 ≈ 4, 60x60 ≈ 3 pcs. This varies by brand, so you can edit it under Advanced Settings to match your box.
Why a waste factor?
Some tiles are always cut for edges, some break during laying, and it's wise to keep spares for future repairs (color/batch can differ if bought later). A 5% default is common; raise it for complex patterns.
Can this be used for wall tiles?
Yes. The principle is the same — enter the wall surface area to be tiled and pick the size. For a bathroom, calculate each wall's area then sum them, and subtract openings like doors.
How do I estimate the tile cost?
