Brick & Concrete Block Calculator
Calculate red brick or concrete block quantity, plus masonry cement and sand, from wall area. Free, with adjustable SNI coefficients.

Important — this is an estimate
Estimate based on standard coefficients; real needs depend on specification, work method, and field conditions. For an accurate BoQ, consult Luxury Art.
Coefficients reference SNI AHSP (typical values, adjustable).
Material requirement
Brick/block count already includes mortar; waste can vary by size and workmanship.

How to calculate brick requirements
Calculate from net wall area
Brick needs are derived from wall area (length × height) minus openings like doors and windows. The more accurate your net wall area, the more accurate the brick estimate.
Red brick ~70/m², block ~11/m²
For a half-brick wall, typical needs are around 70 red bricks per m² or 11 concrete blocks per m². This varies with brick size and joint thickness — all adjustable under Advanced Settings.
Don't forget mortar (cement + sand)
Besides bricks, you need mortar as the binder. This calculator also estimates cement (in bags) and sand (in m³) based on a 1:5 mix, so your material shopping list is complete in one go.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How many red bricks per square meter of wall?
For a half-brick wall, typical needs are around 70 red bricks per m². The exact figure depends on brick size (larger bricks need fewer) and joint thickness. The calculator uses 70/m² as an editable default.
How many concrete blocks are needed per square meter?
Concrete blocks are larger than red bricks, so a m² of wall generally needs only about 11. Since block sizes vary by manufacturer, adjust the coefficient under Advanced Settings if your block size differs.
Are cement and sand already calculated?
Yes. The calculator estimates cement (bags) and sand (m³) for masonry mortar based on the SNI 1:5 coefficient. This is for brickwork only — plaster and skim coat are calculated separately in the plaster calculator.
Why add waste to the brick result?
Some bricks always break during transport or laying. To be safe, many builders add a 3-5% buffer to the calculated figure. You can raise the wall area or simply add a buffer when shopping.
What if the wall isn't half-brick?
A full-brick (double-layer) wall needs roughly twice the bricks and mortar of a half-brick wall. For special cases, adjust the 'pieces per m²' and mortar coefficients under Advanced Settings, or consult Luxury Art for an accurate BoQ.
