Important — this is an estimate

Estimate based on standard coefficients; real needs depend on specification, work method, and field conditions. For an accurate BoQ, consult Luxury Art.

Coefficients reference SNI AHSP (typical values, adjustable).

How to calculate paint needs

Coverage × number of coats

Paint needed = area × coats ÷ coverage. Coverage is printed on the can (usually 10-12 m²/liter per coat), and nearly every job needs at least 2 coats for even results.

Surface drives consumption

New porous walls or rough surfaces 'drink' more paint. Covering dark over light also needs extra coats. Bump the estimate up a little for these conditions.

Buy by the can, not the liter

Paint is sold per can (typically 2.5 L and 25 L). This calculator converts your liter need into a number of cans, so you know exactly how much to buy without running short or badly over-buying.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How much area can one liter of paint cover?

Typical wall paint coverage is around 10-12 m² per liter for ONE coat. Since you usually need 2 coats, one liter effectively covers about 5-6 m². The exact figure is on the can label and adjustable under Advanced Settings.

How many liters of paint for a 40 m² wall?

With 2 coats and 10 m²/liter/coat coverage, a 40 m² wall needs about 8 liters. That's roughly 4 cans of 2.5 L or under 1 can of 25 L. The calculator works this out automatically once you enter the area.

Why 2 coats, isn't 1 enough?

One coat usually won't cover the base evenly, especially on new walls or when changing color. Two coats give a solid, durable color. You can set the number of coats as needed.

Are ceiling and frame paint included?

No. This calculator focuses on wall paint by wall area. Ceiling, frame, or specialty paints (wood/metal) have different coverage — calculate them separately by entering their own area and coverage.

How do I estimate the paint cost?

Enter the paint price per liter in the price field and the calculator multiplies it by your liter need. For a full BoQ including painter labor and support materials (filler, primer), the Luxury Art team can help.
